My topic is spiritual practice in Alfred NY. For this project I chose to focus in on Lighthouse Christian Fellowship because it directly effects the University. Lighthouse Christian Fellowship began back in 1979. In the beginning it acted as a weekly coffee house and bible study. Since it has grown and it was officially established in 1985, just 6 years later. Before I was assigned this project I knew about this church. The members still do a very good job of spreading their message to this day. As I was walking around campus the Sunday before classes started I noticed the sidewalk was covered with little notes left in chalk, the notes said something along the lines of, “Church service @ Nevins 10:30 am-Sundays”. The message was short and sweet, and definetly caught my attention. As I did my research I found more flyers and a big banner for the church located outside of Powell Campus Center, and as I walked by Nevins this morning I could hear the happiness in the gospels they sang. The Church members consist mostly of Students attending University and the church is also non-denominational which encourages anyone of the Christian faith to join in. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” -Matthew 4:15.
